Cause:

Accumulator bore wear and/or piston sticking.

Correction:

Prevent leakage of worn valve body castings with this O-ringed accumulator piston and spring kit.

Ford CD4E and Mazda LA4A-EL transmissions may exhibit such problems as harsh engagements, and/or soft or harsh shifting, particularly from 1stto 2ndGear. These complaints can be due to worn or out-of-round accumulator bores and/or pistons sticking in the bore. Sonnax accumulator piston kit 73840-24 for the 2-4 piston,73840-LRfor Low/Reverse and73840-FWDfor Forward.
